Description
A deliciously spiced chicken shawarma recipe, marinated to perfection and served with fresh toppings.
Ingredients

- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- For Serving:
- Pita bread or flatbreads
- Sliced cucumber, tomatoes, red onion
- Pickles (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Garlic sauce, tahini, or tzatziki
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all marinade ingredients. Add chicken and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (up to overnight).
- Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes per side, until fully cooked and slightly charred. Let rest 5 minutes.
- Slice chicken thinly.
- Assemble shawarma by placing chicken on pita or flatbread and topping with cucumber, tomato, onion, pickles, parsley, and sauce of choice.
- Roll up and serve warm.
Notes
- This shawarma can be served with various sauces to enhance flavor.
- Marinating overnight will yield a more flavorful chicken.
